  • Year: Junior
  • Major: Sociology and Communication Studies

Hello, hello!! My name is Chloe Acebo, and I am a third year at UCLA. I just recently transferred to UCLA from UC Santa Cruz, and loving it! Although I’m originally from South Pasadena, I can’t get enough of the beautiful sunshine and hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, regardless of the traffic. I chose to transfer to expand my network and gain more opportunity in the social media sphere despite loving my redwood home in Santa Cruz. Growing up in a small town in a big, eclectic county has inspired me to continually volunteer and get involved with non-profits. I’m currently studying Sociology, and still hoping to double in Communication Studies. I am a Bruin Ambassador, the Marketing Director of USAC’s Academic Affairs Commission, a researcher for the North Campus Student Researcher, a hula dancer, and most recently a Camp Kesem counselor. From going to sporting events to studying and volunteering, I am so proud to be a Bruin!!

  • Major: Communication Studies, Education (minor)

Hi! My name is Jamie and I am a second-year Bruin loving every minute I’m spending at UCLA. I’m from the teeny tiny rural town of Littlerock, California located about an hour away from Los Angeles in the Antelope Valley. Since my hometown was so small and I knew everyone in my graduating class, being in Los Angeles and having the opportunity to meet dozens of new people everyday is super new and exciting to me. Ever since I was in first grade, I wanted to be a teacher and now I get more and more excited every day as I grow closer to making educating others my career. I absolutely love getting involved on campus. I am a Bruin Ambassador, a tutor for underprivileged preschool children with AmeriCorps Jumpstart, a camp counselor with UCLA UniCamp, a Peer-to-Peer workshop presenter on “finding the motivation to succeed” through the campus Career Center, a member in Alpha Delta Pi sorority and an undergraduate discussion leader for an education course titled “success in the undergraduate experience.” Although all of these activities as well as studying for my classes keeps me super busy, I still manage to hang out with my roommates, go on jogs around Westwood, and explore Los Angeles in my spare time.

  • Year: Junior
  • Major: Communication Studies

Hi everyone! I’m Cheechee, a first year hoping to study Communications at UCLA. I was born in the US, moved back to Taiwan when I was ten, and now I’ve come full circle! Since I spent most of my schooling outside of the United States, I felt that coming to UCLA was the perfect choice for me simply because of the abundance of opportunities here on campus! I currently kids through Project WILD, serve as a camp counselor at Unicamp, sing in Awechords A Cappella, and am in the midst of planning/marketing a mini world expo called World In-Sight at UCLA. I’m also involved in research studying the growth of the Internet and its effect on the lives of people all over the world! Even though all my extracurriculars keep me super busy, they also balance me out and keep me grounded! Studying at UCLA has been an extraordinary experience so far, and I can’t wait to see where the rest of this ride takes me!

  • Major: Dance
  • Minor: Visual and Performing Arts Education

Hey Everyone, my name is Anjali and I’m a fourth year here at UCLA. I can’t believe my time as an undergrad at this wonderful school is coming to an end! I remember coming to visit UCLA’s campus for the first time as a high school senior and falling in love at first walk down bruin walk; I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. As a dance major, I was lucky to have a built-in dance family of students, faculty and other artists. My peers and professors helped me transition from high school life to college life and in doing so I was introduced to all of the possibilities that UCLA has to offer! I am currently a Bruin Ambassador working under the Office of Undergraduate Admission, I have interned at the UCLA Lab School (an elementary school attached to UCLA’s campus) as a student art teacher, I have studied abroad to Spain for a summer and this year I was accepted to choreograph a dance piece for the Senior Showcase where dance majors get to showcase a work of choreography that they will have worked on for the entire year. I am excited and ready to make my last year at UCLA count. UCLA is and always will be my Bruin home; the place where I made lifelong friendships, explored new places and cultures, and truly found myself… Once a Bruin, always a Bruin!

Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ

Year: Junior

Major: Physiological Science & Pre-Dental

Hey! I’m Matt, and I’m a 3rd year here at UCLA. You can catch me on campus walking backwards in a blue UCLA polo (as a tour guide), at the Wooden Center exercising or playing racquetball, or in the School of Dentistry, where I work in a lab researching the effects of Natural Killer (NK) cells on various types of cancers. My favorite things about UCLA, aside from everything, include our location, sports, and food. Living in LA, I have gotten to see some of my favorite artists perform in Hollywood, downtown, and even on campus. My favorite UCLA memories include 8-clapping in the pouring rain at the Rose Bowl after defeating USC in football on November 17th, 2012 (38 – 28, never forget), camping out for UCLA basketball tickets outside Pauley Pavillion with hundreds of fellow bruins, and studying abroad in Brighton, England last summer, being able to visit places like Berlin, Prague, Budapest, and Barcelona along the way. Go Bruins!
