How will I know if I have been admitted to UCLA?
Applicants:
As in years past, the official admission decisions will be made available to applicants online...when decisions are public later this month. In addition, applicants that are admitted will receive a packet by postal mail. However, students that are not admitted to UCLA will only receive notification via the online site.
If you have any questions about decisions, admission, or general inquiries, please feel free to comment on the blog. We are as anxious as you are while waiting for the admission decisions to be released. Hold tight! UARS
My only question is...
Collegeboard.com claims that UCLA decisions are supposed to start today? I would like to know the specific day of the admissions decisions release if in fact it is not today.

Why does collegeboard.com say that admission notifications will be posted starting today?

My experience dealing with UCLA in the entire application process has been nothing but perfect - the administrative staff (including the Director) can't be more helpful or friendly. However, I am not sure if the academic side is totally different. If you are really concerned, you could always right [sic] to UCLA and ask about their class cancellation/selection policy.

"the official admission decisions will be made available to applicants online" Where exactly will we find this information?
Posted by: Nina | March 16, 2009 at 11:09 AM
This is where the admissions decisions will be available online:

What information do I need in order to log into the online admisions decisions to check admission status online?
Posted by: Lan | March 18, 2009 at 09:24 AM
Someone told me to create a log in for "my ucla" for admissions, is that correct? It currently says that I don't have access to it at the moment, but will the decision show up on that site?

Will admissions decisions be released on a rolling basis or all on one day? At least tell us this much!

Alex:
Admissions decisions have not been made public yet.

Jaya:
Freshman admission decisions are released all at one time; we do not admit freshman applicants on a rolling basis.

I started a MyUCLA account because I was told (by college confidential) this was the method to find out of you were admitted, but it doesn't work.. and now they are saying this was a bad decision. Will this effect my admissions?
Posted by: Derek | March 18, 2009 at 04:31 PM
Derek:
This will not effect your admissions decision.

A thousand thank you's! That's a huge relief.

Can you tell us what info do we need in order to log in to admssions.ucla.edu/applicant/decision/default.htm to check admission status when it's made public.

If decisions are made all in one day, why haven't I heard from them yet? Some people have already said that they were accepted.
Posted by: Gladys | March 18, 2009 at 06:05 PM
Decisions are out as of 11:33 p.m. March 18th. They emailed my daugther a link and after you type in your last name, dob, application # etc. you see the letter about admission or a letter of regrets.

What happens to the "spots" of students who were acceped but decline to attend UCLA?
Posted by: B | March 19, 2009 at 12:03 PM
Parent B:
Unfortunately we are not in a position to fulfill applicant requests as to why they were denied admission. We simply cannot meet such demand considering we reviewed over 55,000 freshman applicants and are in the process of reviewing over 16,500 transfer applications.
If you are interested in pursuing an appeal of the admission decision, please visit our website for instructions: www.admissions.ucla.edu/AppealsFr.htm.
UCLA does not have a wait list; we over admit students in order to yield the number of students that will enroll for the in-coming class.
Posted by: Marisela | March 19, 2009 at 12:11 PM
B:
There are no spots remaining once students decline their UCLA admissions offer. When the number of students we admit each year is determined, we have anticipated the number of people that will accept the offer in order to come up with the class.

B:
What concerns specifically?
Posted by: Marisela | March 19, 2009 at 02:18 PM
Is it possible that applications are continuously re-reviewed after recieving a decline letter can still recieve a phone call stating that the applicant has been accepted? This happened to my friend's son 3 years ago.
