New Bruins Website
Don't worry, admitted students, I am not trying to rush your decision-making process. You have until May 1 to submit your Statement of Intent to Register (AKA SIR. Fun fact: Here in UARS, we use "SIR" as a verb. As in "When are you going to SIR?" We're crazy, right?) to UCLA or the other UC campus of your choice. However, for those of you who have chosen to come to UCLA for Fall 2008, first of all: good choice. Secondly, if you haven't familiarized yourself with the New Bruins website yet, please do so ASACBBM1 (As Soon As Convenient But Before May 1).
Why visit the New Bruins website, you ask? Excellent question. By visiting http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/newbruins.htm, you'll be able to formally accept UCLA's offer of admission (or SIR), set up your MyUCLA account, learn about your financial aid, and do many other things that you must do in order to be a full-fledged Bruin this September.
Additionally, those students who have made changes to their course work or have received poor grades, please make sure to fill out a Provisional Problem Form. An evaluator will review your changes and notify you within fifteen working days if the changes will affect your admission. The following links will guide you to the correct forms to fill out the Provisional Problem Form. Freshmen, please visit: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/NewBruins/NSG_Freshmen.htm. Transfer students, please visit: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/NewBruins/NSG_Transfer.htm.
And please feel free to e-mail the New Bruins email account at newbruins@saonet.ucla.edu with any questions you might have regarding your admission to UCLA.
If you haven't made your decision yet, take your time and consider all of your options, and if you do choose UCLA, make sure to log on to New Bruins ASACBBM1. We can't wait to meet you in the fall!
I would like to know if you already know when the results will be released for transfer students? I can't wait anymore!!!! Do you think next week is a good time to check the web site?
Thank you!!

All we know is that transfer decisions will be released in late April. Not too much longer!

I know that transfer admisssions are released in late april, but am curious as to whether this applies to ALL transfers. Do the specialty schools, like Theatre, Film, and Television release their admissions the same day? I'm worried because my boyfriend applied to the school of film, and the finalists are interviewed. He called the admissions dept. for film last week and the person he spoke to said "they are still in review, but we hope to have decisions by the end of next week." I also read on a student film blog that someone was invited for an interview on April 18th, which is closer to "late april," but makes me wonder if the Film school does things differently that the general College of Letters and Science, etc....Is their a possibility that they will know later than regular transfer applicants?

I'm with Diego. We're all on edge trying to decipher when "late april" is. Technically, we can expect to know anytime after the 15th. Who wants to join the guessing game? This is torture! :]

I honestly do not know when decisions will be released, but I do know that they will not necessarily all be released on the same day. I can't speak for the School of Theater, Film, and Television's decision-making process; if you have applied to that School (or Nursing/Engineering/Arts and Architecture) you should contact those schools directly as they will be able to give you more detailed information.

Thanks for your response Stacy :]

Oh man this is agonizing. I have been checking the transfer decision website first thing in the morning and after I get home every day even thought I know it's not going to change. This is the longest wait for anything ever. I'm so glad I found this website because now at least I have company in my misery. :D
I read in another post that there were roughly 55,000 freshman applicants and only 4500 places for them. Would anyone to know the numbers on transfer applicants this time around ?

I have a general question- I hate so be so naive, but i read a post on "collegecoonfidential" where someone claimed to have spoken directly with a UCLA representative, who told them that "they don't even look at the fall quarter grades that one submits on the update." Though I should take this with a grain of salt, this concerns me because my GPA actually increased a lot after the initial application deadline, and i take comfort in the idea of those grades helping me chances. Is this true?

Today is may 17th. Can you tell us if the date for transfer to know if they got accepted or not still far away? You do not have to tell us the exactly date. I just want to know how close are we from the results' day, so I do not have to kee checking the web site all the time.
Thank you, Stacy

Right now I am working on my application essays. They are really hard for me. I am wondering how important they are in your application process. I do have good GPA though.
Posted by: Jack Zhang | November 13, 2008 at 10:19 AM
Great question, Jack. Many people ask about the importance of the essays and how they are weighted. The essays in your application are very valuable because they are one of the few areas where you can individualize yourself in your application. Your essay provides you with an opportunity to share with our staff more about who you are, what your academic & personal journey has been, and what your goals and aspirations are. Everyone has grades and test scores but not everyone has the same story to tell. Good luck!
