The Final Countdown

For those of you who are waiting to receive admissions decisions from colleges and universities across the country this year, it might seem like 2008 is a leap year just to keep the month of March away one day longer and draw out the excrutiating waiting process, but hang in there! You're almost donHourglasse.

If you've applied to UCLA and/or any other UC campuses for Fall 2008, you shall be receiving your admissions decisions during the month of March. Back in the days before online applications, hopeful UC students had to run to their mailboxes every March afternoon in search of the good news, but you lucky bunch can just check online decision sites. If you've applied to multiple UCs like I hope you have, you will need to follow each campus's individual instructions for checking admission status. Even though all us UCs share many common deadlines (like the May 1 deadline for freshman admits to submit their Statement of Intent to Register!), we do not all release admissions decisions on the same day, so hearing from one campus does not guarantee you'll hear from another right away.

In the meantime, keep working hard in your current coursework and make sure to enjoy the last few months of your high school career. They will fly by, so make the most of them!

So when does UCLA release admission decisions? What about UCB, UCI, and UCSD?

Hi Boris,

UCLA will release likely its admissions decisions in mid/late March, but unfortunately that is as much information as I can give you. As far as the other campuses are concerned, I can only tell you that you will receive your decision within the month of March. It brings a new whole definition to the term "March Madness" doesn't it? :-) Good luck to you!

How about the UCLA transfer admissions? Like about what time I can know the decision?
THanks!

Harry,

UCLA will release transfer admissions decisions in late April. You've got a little more time to wait, so hang in there!

-Stacy

It was 24th of April last year, wasnt it?

It may well have been; I don't remember. However, the date changes from year to year, so it could be earlier or later than that.

Hi, does UCLA have an online decision site like the other UCs? This is because I don't remember receiving a letter about it...

Thanks!

-Rena

Hello,

I was wondering about the Engineering Open House at UCLA. Do you know if this is a good sign for admission if you're invited, or if it means anything? Thanks!

-Chris

So where do we find out about our admission status? What is the admission status site for UCLA?

So it appears that the comments for this blog follow two main themes: 1) do we have an online decision site and 2) what does an invitation to an Engineering Open House mean. Here are my respective answers.

1) We sure do. Here it is: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Applicant/Decision/default.htm

2) I cannot speak for the School of Engineering, but the only official admissions decision you will receive will come from our office. I can neither confirm nor deny any rumors about when decisions will be released, but it will be sometime before March 31.

At UCLA TAP day in November we were told the date of admission decisions would be April 15th for transfer students. Can we expect decisions then or has the date changed?

Dear UCLA Fanatic,

I'm not sure where you heard that information at TAP, but there is no confirmed date for the transfer admission decisions to be released. It will most likely be mid/late April, but that is unfortunately the most accurate information I can give you. Hang in there, the wait is almost over!

-Stacy

Hello Stacy,

Can you provide an update on freshman admission decisions? Is it possible they'll be posted on Saturday, March 15?

Thank you.

Hi Don,

I can neither confirm, nor deny, any rumors about when admissions decisions will be released. I know the waiting game is no fun, but it will be over soon. Good luck!

-Stacy

Is there a good chance of getting in, if you have received the supplemental questionnaire?

The supplemental questionnaire is simply a request for additional information; it does not necessarily have any effect on your admission status.

Hello,

Has UCLA ever sent out decisions any earlier than the last week of March in the past few years?

Thanks!

Jason: I have only been here for a just over a year; I cannot speak with much authority, but I do know that last year decisions were released during the last week of March. I also know that decision release dates vary from year to year, so one year's date really has no effect on the next.

Jason,

I applied for Fall 2005 as a freshman and we received decisions the first week of March. With more applicants every year, that could be what is extending the waiting game. I am playing the waiting game again, this time as a transfer.
