Hey, Guys, keep up the good work (and I MEAN it)!
The end of your senior year of high school is a unique time,
with proms, banquets, award ceremonies, and the growing realization that life
is about to change for ever. For some of you this will be your life’s first big
transition. All the while, you’re probably sitting in some of the hardest
classes you’ve ever tackled, and the last thing you want to hear is us haranguing
you about your grades and classes, right? Well, let me give you a little
background from our side of the files. This year we denied admission to over
38,000 freshman applicants, the majority of them very bright and hard-working
students. We have also received, to date, more than 1,200 appeal requests from
this group. Now most of these students would have no trouble succeeding at
UCLA; it’s just that we have no room. Therefore we are stuck in the position of
being the meanies who tell almost all of these students no a second time. So,
with these kids in mind, I don’t have any qualms about our expectations for
your senior years. Even if you’re having a hard time of it, buckle down and
keep going! You’re certainly no stranger to hard work, else you wouldn’t have
gotten to this point in the first place.
- Transfer Students: I realize that the above focused mainly on freshmen, but all students are expected to do well in their final year before entering UCLA. www.admissions.ucla.edu/NewBruins/Changes_Transfer.htm
UCLA classification question???
Hi,
I'm a newly admitted transfer student to UCLA( Engineering student). I just logged in to URSA, and I saw this information under "Academic" >>> "View Registration Status"
Registration Status - Fall 2007
Classification: SENIOR (135- OR MORE COMPLETED UNITS)
I don't think it sounds right at all. I'm supposed to be a Junior transfer from California Community College right? BTW, I will finish 96 semester units by this Spring semester in which only 82 units are UC transferable.
Can somebody help me?

Kev,
Not to worry. That "senior" designation is just a preliminary value based on the courses you listed on your application. (If your courses added up to 96 semester units, that would translate into 144 quarter units.) You did the right thing, by the way, to list ALL your courses, not just the transferable stuff.
Once we get your final transcripts (and provided you accept your offer from UCLA) we will update your student record with course-by-course credit for your transfer work, and you should see that "SENIOR" change to "JUNIOR."
By the way, if all your courses were taken at a CA community college, then your units will be capped at 105 quarter units (though you will get subject credit for all transferable courses).

Hey, I was wondering if there is a web page with the impacted majors at UCLA, mainly the impacted science majors?? I am helping ym sister fill out her college apps. and we were hoping that there was one for UCLA.
Thank You,
Chelsea
