FINALLY, we are ALMOST THERE!!!

Lma_5 Decisions will be released today for most of our 13,400 transfer applicants to Fall 2007! While this may represent only 21% of our applicant pool, the review of transfer applicants to UCLA takes a lot longer than the freshman review. Though many factors we look at are the same—such as employment, extracurricular activities, community service, awards, personal achievements, and hardships—unlike freshmen, transfer students’ college work becomes part of their permanent course record. Furthermore, since we expect transfers to enter UCLA as college juniors ready to take on upper division course work in their majors, we review every last course listed on each application to make sure students have made progress toward major preparation requirements. And where our freshman reviews are conducted by a combination of admissions employees and outside 3evls_5 readers (over 100 people), transfer reviews are done by only 12 people called evaluators. Every college employs people with this title. Their job is to determine how courses taken at other schools translate to their school. Sounds simple but, believe me, it isn't—especially for a place with such a wide draw as UCLA. Collectively, our evaluators hold detailed knowledge of educational systems not just in the US, but throughout the world. (Some of our evaluators recently penned education profiles on China, Mexico, and Oman that will be used by colleges and universities nationwide.) As of today, my evaluator colleagues can take a short but well-earned breather before the transcripts start rolling in, and they are once again scanning lists of courses.

Is it true that the transfer decision will be posted today?

omg i'm so excited!

Good luck for to all the transfer applicants :)

Hello, do you know around what time decisions will be released today?

Barring any unforeseen technical glitches we will open the decision site for transfers at the END of the business day today (April 24, around 5:00 PDT).

Oh please post the decisions today! I don't think I can wait any longer. Everyone is very excited to hear from LA! :)Good luck everyone!

come on guys lets start a count down party! haha, I'm so excited. I've just been sitting on every other offer waiting for this one, I've got my fingers INCREDIBLY crossed.

is 21% released for specific majors or is it random?

if it is by major then will the arts and architecture decision be posted today?

Scared one:

We should have the majority of transfer decisions posted by the end of the day today (barring any unforeseen technical glitches, as Daniel said).

Be not afraid!

Any idea when the actual letters should arrive?

So, if we get rejected, and we decide to go the route of the appeals process, is it different from the freshman appeals process, or is it similar?

Does this include professional schools? I applied to the School of TFT. I know that these apps are reviewed by seperate adcoms. Will these be released today?

Thank you.

I just logged on to the URSA, and I see the SIR and the financial award.

Does this mean I'm in?

Okay everyone, the transfer decisions are available:
www.admissions.ucla.edu/decision

Now let me attempt to address some of your questions:

Decisions are there for majors in all areas: Letters and Science and the professional schools (Art, Engineering, Nursing, Theater/TV/Film).

True, we have not made decisions yet for every last transfer applicant. There are a few still out there that are undecided. I realize that if you happen to be one of these it doesn't matter that other people have decisions. Please understand that we're doing everything we can to get those last few out soon!

Paper letters are mailed the same day the decision is released online, so if you see your decision on our site today, the letter will follow soon.

For info on appeals, visit: www.admissions.ucla.edu/AppealsTr.htm

OH YEAH I GOT IN! I've been waiting for this day FOREVER. First and foremost thanks to everyone in admissions who took the time, and second congratulations to everyone else who made it today!

Does anyone know when the last few remaining transfer decisions will be posted?

Decisions will continue to be released on a daily basis as we make them.

I GOT IN AS AN ENGLISH MAJOR! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO WERE ACCEPTED

I didn't get in to the new B.A. Arch Studies program. I don't understand because I have a 3.65 GPA (seriously, far above the average for the arch. department), had a strong personal statement, and my portfolio was good. Maybe it had something to do with the 2,000 fewer spaces that were available this year versus previous years. Maybe there weren't many spaces in the new program. I am baffled, to say the least.

Sorry for all the questions, but for those of us who haven't received a decision, will they be posted by the end of each business as well?

At what time today are going to make
decisions for the applications still
pending. Thank you

Good question, Daniel. The time varies from day to day depending on our workload. But, generally, we try to get the updates on there each day by noon.

what is the latest the transfer decisions will be updated?

I got in... I was just wondering when we can change a major or declare double majors...I really want to do Comm. Studies and Pol Sci.

Sandra: Your ability to change majors can vary quite a bit depending on the major. For example, both majors you listed are very popular and therefore not so easy to get into (especially Comm Studies). My advice--attend Orientation this summer and discuss your degree goals with a counselor.

How strict is the admissions office on a change in schedule for the Spring 2007 semester (for transfer admits?) Is a change in coursework for the Spring 2007 semester which does NOT impede the completion of the IGETC a reason to worry about an acceptance being revoked?
